Maternity Services Lead

We have an exciting opportunity for someone with knowledge of or experience in a management role within maternity services to lead our Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership (MNVP)work in Birmingham, Solihull, and the Black Country.

The Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership is a diverse working group of service users with membership also including health care professionals (midwives, obstetricians, etc), commissioners and voluntary sector organisations who come together to provide feedback on experiences within maternity and utilise this feedback to co-produce and improve services.

The role will involve working with partners within Birmingham and Solihull Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) as well as that of the Black Country, encompassing 6 hospital trusts.


The Role

The post holder will be responsible for the organisation’s MNVP work across Birmingham, Solihull, and the Black Country, ensuring work is carried out in accordance with agreed work plans and developing the reach and diversity of the MNVP membership.

You will manage 2 Coordinators who work across the area, providing administrative and coordination support to MNVP Leads and other service user volunteers.

You will be responsible for ensuring key performance indicators and high quality of service provision is met and maintained, ensuring staff and volunteers receive the necessary support and training to achieve this.

You will be responsible for maintaining strategic relationships with key partners and attending meetings to feedback on progress and outcomes as well as ensuring reports to key commissioners and stakeholders are completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales.

Requires Skills/Experience

  • Experience of managing within maternity/neonatal service (or knowledge and understanding of these coupled with management experience)

  • Experience of working collaboratively with a range of healthcare providers, including Primary and Secondary care as well as community organisations

  • Significant project/contract management experience and proven track record of achieving targets

  • Management of staff responsible for coordinating activity

  • Effective communication skills and ability to build and develop relationships at all levels

  • Demonstrable understanding of the current landscape in relation to maternity services, pre and post-natal care

  • Experience of community consultation or co-production initiatives would be highly desirableYou may also have experience in areas such as Midwifery, Nursing, Senior Management, NHS Management, Healthcare Management, Commissioning, Social Care Services, Health and Social Care.An interview is guaranteed to suitably qualified and experienced people with disabilities
