"Gateway Family Services CIC- Join Our Team and Make a Difference in Your Community!"

Research Coordinator/Senior Research Coordinator

We have an exciting short-term opportunity for one (potentially two) Senior Research Coordinators to work within the Black Country with an immediate start. Ideally, you should be an experienced Research Coordinator or Senior Research Coordinator with experience working with NHS structures and organisations, preferably Maternity and/or Primary Care.

The Project Brief:

Working alongside Black Country ICB and Local Maternity System as well as PCNs and NHS Trusts within the region (Wolverhampton, Dudley, Sandwell and Walsall), the object is to understand and look at ways to improve communication and information sharing regarding gestational immunisations (and possibly wider communications) offered to expectant mothers. These include pertussis/whooping cough (offered to all pregnant people), Covid and Seasonal Flu.

There are currently significant gaps between information storing and sharing within Primary Care and Maternity, and with an increased focus on increasing uptake of gestational (and early childhood) immunisations, the ICB are keen to understand:

  • How information sharing and communication can be improved

  • Understand what, if any, pocket of shared information and delivery there are out there that are working better

  • Develop and potentially implement some pilots within PCNs to test methods of improving information sharing and develop joined up approaches to gestational immunisations

In addition, we are interested in understanding the landscape around Covid and Seasonal Flu vaccinations for pregnant people in general – the messaging and methods used around this, where good practice happens and the impact this has on uptake, literature about the vaccinations and professional and public understanding and opinion.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Actionable SWOT Analysis of current practices – what works and what doesn’t

  • Recommendations for how areas of practice might be improved (including data sharing though with a focus on practice)

  • Design of and potential testing of pilot models that support increased information sharing, communication and potentially take up of gestational immunisations.

  • Inclusion within final report of the ‘bigger picture’ – how might the relationship between Primary Care and Maternity ne improved generally? Are there issues that have arisen during the research that can be actioned separately or at a later date? How can models be future proofed?

Salary and Benefits

Salary circa £32-£35k per annum (pro rata) or daily rate for self-employed applicants

You will be based in Birmingham/home (hybrid model) with some travel across the Black Country area expected.
